Privacy Policy — DateGuard

1. Introduction

Heijnes Digital ("we", "us", "our"), registered with the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (KvK) under number 99250926, operates DateGuard, an AI-powered dating safety application. DateGuard helps users identify romance scams, catfishing, and red flags by analyzing dating profile screenshots and conversation text.

We take your privacy extremely seriously. Given the highly sensitive and personal nature of dating safety data, we have designed DateGuard with privacy as a core principle. This policy explains in detail how we collect, use, process, and protect your personal data.

2. Data We Collect

When you use DateGuard, we may collect the following data:

  • Account information — email address used to create your account
  • Screenshots uploaded for analysis — images of dating profiles or conversations you submit for scanning (temporarily stored; see Section 3)
  • Conversation text — text you paste or input for analysis
  • Scan results and risk scores — the output of AI analysis, including risk assessments, flags, and recommendations
  • Scan history — a record of your past scans and their results
  • Usage data — app interactions, feature usage, and anonymized analytics
  • Device information — device type, operating system version, and language settings

3. Screenshot and Image Processing

We do NOT permanently store your uploaded screenshots. When you upload a screenshot for analysis, the image is temporarily stored on our servers solely for the purpose of AI processing. Once the analysis is complete, uploaded images are deleted from our servers within 24 hours. Only the analysis results (risk score, identified flags, and recommendations) are retained in your account.

We recommend that you crop screenshots to remove your own personal identifiers (name, profile photo, location) before uploading them for scanning. This minimizes the personal data processed during analysis.

4. AI Processing

Screenshots and conversation text you submit are analyzed by artificial intelligence (powered by Anthropic/Claude) to detect scam patterns, catfishing indicators, manipulation tactics, and other red flags. The following safeguards are in place:

  • Data is anonymized before being sent for AI processing
  • We do NOT use your personal data to train AI models
  • No dating profile information is stored beyond the analysis session
  • AI analysis is used solely to generate your safety assessment and is not shared with third parties

5. Third-Party Dating Platforms

DateGuard does NOT access, connect to, store data from, or interact with dating platforms directly. We have no affiliation with any dating service. All content analyzed by DateGuard is manually provided by you, the user, through screenshots or pasted text.

6. Scan Results

Risk assessments, flags, and recommendations generated by DateGuard are stored in your account for your personal reference. You can delete individual scan results at any time from within the app. When you delete a scan result, it is permanently removed from our servers.

7. Payment Processing

Payments are processed securely through the Apple App Store and/or Stripe. We do not store your payment card details on our servers. All payment processing is handled by PCI DSS compliant providers.

8. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate DateGuard:

  • Supabase — database hosting and authentication
  • Anthropic (Claude) — AI analysis engine for scam and red flag detection
  • Stripe — payment processing
  • RevenueCat — subscription management
  • Sentry — error monitoring (no scan content is included in error reports)

9. Data Minimization

We adhere to the principle of data minimization and collect only the minimum data necessary to provide our service. We do not collect or store data beyond what is required for your safety analysis. We strongly recommend that users crop screenshots to remove personal identifiers before scanning to further reduce the amount of personal data processed.

10. Your Rights (GDPR)

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), you have the following rights. Given the sensitive nature of dating safety data, we are especially committed to honoring these promptly:

  • Right of access — request a copy of all personal data we hold about you
  • Right to rectification — correct inaccurate personal data
  • Right to erasure — request complete deletion of all your personal data, including all scan history and analysis results. We will process erasure requests within 30 days.
  • Right to restriction — restrict or object to processing of your data
  • Right to data portability — receive your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Right to withdraw consent — withdraw consent at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing
  • Right to lodge a complaint — file a complaint with the Dutch Data Protection Authority (Autoriteit Persoonsgegevens)

11. Data Retention

We retain data according to the following schedule:

  • Account data — retained for as long as your account is active
  • Uploaded images/screenshots — deleted within 24 hours of upload
  • Scan results and analysis — retained until you delete them or your account is deleted
  • Full account deletion — all data is permanently removed within 30 days of your deletion request

12. Data Security

We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption at rest and in transit. Our backend infrastructure is hosted on Supabase with robust security controls. Given the sensitive nature of dating safety data, we apply additional safeguards including strict access controls and automatic deletion of uploaded images.

13. Children's Privacy

DateGuard is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. Given the dating context of this application, we do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and all associated data.

14. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. We will notify you of any material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of DateGuard after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
